CINARS 2027
PACT aims to enhance the representation of Canada’s diverse theatre sector on the global stage by fostering new opportunities for collaboration, exchange, cultural export, sharing, and learning. To this end, PACT is seeking funding to offset the costs of supporting a delegation of Canadian theatre representatives to attend global festivals, marketplaces, and conferences. Due to the granting timeline, PACT is inviting member companies to submit a short expression of interest in participating in the upcoming delegation. This initiative is pending confirmed funding.
ABOUT THE DELEGATION
The International Relations Committee will support member-companies to attend the 2026 CINARS Biennale (International Network for the Performing Arts) in Montreal, Quebec and take part in our market-development delegation.
CINARS is an internationally significant biennale and arts market that takes place in Montreal, QC. PACT has yet to send a delegation to represent member companies and Anglo theatre companies from Canada are frequently underrepresented at CINARS.
PACT's International Relations Committee hopes to bring more awareness of member companies’ work to the biennale and to foster interpersonal relationships with visiting delegates from across Canada and around the world.
PACT delegates will attend biennale events and participate in a PACT booth where PACT member companies attending CINARS can place their own marketing and circulation materials for touring works. Note that, in addition to representing their own companies’ works, while at the PACT table, PACT delegates will be asked to speak generally about PACT and recommend works and/or companies from the PACT membership to visiting delegates that may resonate with their interests.
The Canada Council microgrant will support registration fees for the CINARS biennale for one (1) attendee per PACT company in the delegation, and will also support the table fee and some print materials about the participating companies and PACT. Delegates should have export-ready works to market at CINARS. Delegates should be prepared with information on artistic content, scale of production (i.e. type of theatre their work can be performed in), and anticipated fees and technical needs of their work to tour.
