Job Description

Job Posting: Head of Wardrobe Main Season
Join our Team of talented and dedicated artists and help bring our stories to life on the stages of Lighthouse Festival!!
Under the supervision of Assistant Technical Director (Head of Props), the Head of Wardrobe will primarily be responsible for wardrobe fittings, alterations, repairs, care and maintenance. In addition, will work with the Costume Designer and with all other creative departments to assist with any technical requirements required for each show.
The Head of Wardrobe must possess the required technical skills, be an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, have demonstrated problem solving and time management skills and be able to perform all physical duties of the job. The Head of Wardrobe must have a strong commitment to Health and Safety.
This is a Temporary Full Time Salaried Contract position located in Port Dover.
Main Job Duties

Conduct all initial wardrobe fittings with costume designer

Run any subsequent wardrobe fittings

Manage all alterations and adjustments to costumes as needed

Lead any repairs or alternations during the course of the show

Establish a system for care and maintenance of the costumes with the costume designer, to be handed off to stage management for Port Colborne run

Respond to and execute any wardrobe notes that come from stage management through rehearsal or production meeting notes

Prepare the wardrobe track paperwork for artists use in the dressing room.

Arrange and maintain the dressing rooms and necessary supplies: vodka spray, laundry baskets, labelled garment bags.

Set up quick change locations backstage as specified by stage management.

Transfer and initial setup of costumes from the rehearsal hall to the theatre.

Attend dress rehearsal and any quick-change rehearsals to provide any needed support.

May be required to work alongside the Head of Props for any soft props or set dec needed.

Work alongside the Director and Stage Managers as Costume Designer for our Young Company production.
Education, Skills and Abilities

Minimum One Year Postsecondary education in Technical Production preferred.

Effective technical skills.

Strong communication skills.

Demonstrated time management skills.

First aid (training can be provided by the theatre).

Work cooperatively with other members of your team and be able to work
independently.

Able to lift 50lbs on occasion.
Working Conditions

40-hour work week, with hours averaging agreement. Hours may be varied dependent on operational needs and include evening and weekend expectations.
