Job Description

DONOR ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Status: Full-Time, one-year term
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (35 hours per week)
Annual/hourly salary: $71,700 - $89,600 (position with benefits and pension plan)

Key activities:
The Donor Engagement Specialist, reporting to the Director of Development Operations, will be a key
contributor to the National Arts Centre's efforts in planning, coordinating, and executing donor
engagement, cultivation, and stewardship activities. With a focus on surprise, delight, and gratitude, the
Donor Engagement Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring donors feel valued and connected to the
NAC's mission.

Responsibilities:

Donor Impact Reporting:
• Project manage stewardship communications materials, including impact reports and custom
donor reports.
• Develop and support the execution of engagement and stewardship plans, ensuring
alignment with NAC's fundraising goals.
• Build and manage the donor engagement calendar, tracking donor preferences and metrics
to inform strategy.
• Manage gift agreements and donor recognition, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records in

Raiser's Edge.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistency with the organization's mission and
strategy.
Recognition:
• Suggest creative donor recognition options based on donor history, preferences, budget, and
timeline.
• Oversee the development, management, and implementation of a revitalized donor relations
program.
• Manage systems for acknowledgments, stewardship reports, and major gift proposals.
• Develop and implement donor recognition plans, including special acknowledgments and/or
signage.
• Proactively seek donor engagement opportunities.
Stewardship Program Planning & General Administration:
• Contribute to the overall planning of the stewardship program, working closely with team
members on special projects.
• Implement and maintain donor stewardship infrastructure, including policies, guidelines,
standards, and processes.
• Identify and develop new strategic and innovative communication and recognition
opportunities.
• Review existing stewardship tactics and donor activity, assessing and recommending further
actions.

Collaboration:
• Participate in planning meetings with solicitors to determine appropriate activities for each
donor.
• Collaborate with various NAC departments and stakeholders to enhance stewardship
programs.
• Foster excellent working relationships within the organization.
• Work collaboratively with the Development Communications Strategist to prepare clear,
concise, and complete information for stewardship communications tools.
• Collaborate with development staff to develop and implement strategies to attract additional
contributions from existing donors.

Communications:
• Work with communications staff to create donor impact reports and customized
communications.
• Manage the ordering and installation of donor recognition items.
• Collaborate with outside agencies to develop new materials, such as videos, for donor
engagement.

Required qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in stewardship, donor relations, or marketing, with a track record of
planning and delivering personalized stewardship.
• Competencies include problem-solving, attention to detail, event planning expertise,
interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and
collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Canva
