Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival (SOTS) has been producing the works of Shakespeare on the banks of the

South Saskatchewan River since 1985. We attract visitors from across the province, the country, and the world. We

strive to create a warm, relaxing, and inviting atmosphere for our patrons so they can truly enjoy their theatrical

experience. Our Venue Technician will be an integral part of this vision as they will be responsible for all technical aspects inside the theatre.

Job Description

Working under the supervision of the Production & Site Manager, the Venue Technician duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Act as the staff primarily responsible for all technical elements within the Festival Amphitheater for all events that take place within that space
• Participate in the construction and/or set up of seating units, stages, and scenery in Festival Amphitheater as well as other set up and some carpentry required on the festival site
• Assist the Production Manager with technical elements across the festival site
• Assist with the planning, scheduling, and execution of the installation of all lighting, sound, and other technical equipment in the Festival Amphitheater as required
• Assist with the planning, scheduling, and execution of the final strike of the Festival Amphitheatre and Festival Site
• Operate all technical cues under direction of the stage manager
• Perform pre-show audio, lighting, and other technical checks as required.
• Assist in maintenance of set and props during the production runs. Including but not limited to; paint touch ups, minor prop and set repair, replacing, and refocusing lights as needed.
• Potentially act as the venue technician for all 3rd party rentals and ancillary events that take place within the Festival Amphitheatre

·         Other duties as assigned

HOURS OF WORK: 30 - 40hrs/week, Full-time, variable hours. Evenings and weekends

RATE OF PAY: $20.60/Hour

APPROXIMATE DURATION: June 12th – August 27th, 2023

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: February 17, 2023

Qualifications:

·         Comfortability with working on a ladder

·         Experience working on a theatrical production

• Be able to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 as per the SOTS policy

•         Knowledge of audio and lighting systems considered an asset

·         Knowledge on ETC Element 40 & Soundcraft Expression an asset

·         Knowledge on Qlab considered an asset

·         Comfortability with power tools and ability to lift 50lbs

**This position is subject to SOTS potentially receiving funding through various support programs; Canada Summer Jobs, Technation, or Venture for Canada.
