Job Description

Position: Publications and Programmes Associate
Department: Creative Management
Salary Range: $50 –$65k

The Position
Reporting to the Executive Director and Artistic Director, the Publications and Programmes Associate is responsible for gathering information, organizing, layout and implementation of all programmes (approx 12-15/annum) as well as several public facing publications, including the bi-annual donor magazine.

This position will gather and organize information, solicit content, create templates, contract essayists, organize and oversee layout and content management, while ensuring accurate editing. The position also coordinates with print houses, orders and maintains programme inventory stock for the season and oversees and solicits ad sales to help subsidize the publications.

Related Duties Include

  • Updating annual production records with performance and creative team details.
  • Organize library and archival copies of most past printed material.
  • Prepare and arrange printing and distribution for Educational or other inserts.
  • Design and update office signage for various departments upon request.
  • Update internal digital signage slide content and activation.

Key Attributes for Candidates

Candidates will have:

  • A proven background in layout and editorial work for a magazine, publisher or other related organization.
  • An in-depth knowledge of software for publication purposes and the needs of print houses in layout for print publications. Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) and MS Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) are preferred.
  • A solid portfolio of layout and design work for magazine or other graphicly based publications
    Clear understanding of web and print based editing.Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • A personality suited to a team based environment, with the ability to spearhead projects and ensure timely completion.

Qualifications

  • Professional publications or editing experience.
  • University or College degree/diploma in related field.
  • 5 years experience working in publications or editing.
  • Advertisement sales experience is a plus.
  • A clear eye for design and detail.

This position requires working on site in Niagara-on-the-Lake, 2-3 days/week, with home-based work possible the rest of the work week in most weeks. Some weekend and evening work may be required around opening weekends or special events.
