Company Overview

PERCHANCE THEATRE IS HIRING

Making innovative, immersive outdoor theatre with sails covering the audience all nestled next to the ocean – that is what the team at Perchance Theatre do.  Just 45 minutes outside the capital city of St. John’s NL, you will find us making our unique, award-winning, brand of theatre magic.  Classics are our main focus, with new works and visiting guest performers, rounding out our beloved summer festival.  We are looking for people who love making excellent ensemble theatre, and who love the outdoors, to join our team of passionate professionals.

Our theatre hires following the DOT Tier One from CAEA.  Our work is created with a focus on the outdoor environment and live creation and as such we have extremely basic lighting, and do mostly live sound/music scapes.  Our technical needs focus more on set and props and always creating with an eye to responsible environmental practices.  Where possible we reuse and recycle existing theatre elements to minimize our impact.

Perchance Theatre is the province’s only professional, classical theatre company.  The vision, that of becoming a world-renowned destination that draws the participation of artists and audiences from around the globe, is becoming a reality.  With a focus on the power of words, ideas, and epic stories, we are building a new hub of inspiration and creation at Perchance.

Since 2014:

Perchance was listed #1 of the six most Unique Ways to Experience Shakespeare in Canada by UK In Canada Magazine.

Produced 24 critically acclaimed productions using some of the province’s, nations, and even the world’s top artists.

Welcomed over 20,000 people into our theatre!

Winner of the BDC Tourism Innovator Award 2022 presented by Hospitality NL in recognition for outstanding commitment and passion in the NL tourism industry.

This little theatre company that could, is getting stronger every year, and we can only do it because ideas are bigger than individuals.  Perchance, like all theatre, exists only in community.  Together we are powerful.
