Company Overview
Imago Theatre was founded in 1987 and is a Montreal-based English-language theatre company. Every season the company programs one to two productions, several artist programs and partners with local, national and international arts organizations. Its commitment to artist mentorship is reflected through ARTISTA, a free mentorship program for young gender diverse and women artists; Nested Circles, an Indigenous led mentorship program that pairs newcomer and Montreal artists; the Creators Circle, which offers mentorship to emerging and established gender-diverse and women theatre makers, and the 2.0 Project, which mentors emerging producers. Imago’s commitment to accessibility is reflected in its Pay-What-You-Decide policy, Relaxed Performances, Access Guides, French Surtitles, a Commitment to Care Policy for artist and audiences and its community engagement through post-show talkbacks with invited guest speakers, and its outreach to schools.
The company is committed to reflecting the diversity that exists in our communities, and is committed to working - with humility, care and accountability - to ensure that our programming and decision-making honour our evolving values of equity and responsiveness.
