Industry Welcome

In coordination with our Education Organizational Colleagues, PACT is excited to host an Industry Welcome on Friday March 20, 1:00pm - 3:00pm ET.

With a focus on inter-industry connection, the Industry Welcome will bring together graduating post-secondary students with industry professionals such as Association and Union Reps and industry leaders in an effort to bridge the gap, demystify these organizations, and review the state of the industry. This year, the event will comprise of two sections:

Part One: Professional Affiliations Overview - 1:00pm - 2:00pm ET

This hour will feature introductions to National Theatre Associations and Unions, and a Q & A opportunity. A representative of each Union and Association is asked to do a brief presentation on their organization, with helpful tips. Then, the attendees are encouraged to ask any burning questions about each organization.

• Associate Designers of Canada (ADC)
• Canadian Actors' Equity Association (CAEA)
• Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology / Institut canadien des technologies scénographiques (CITT/ICTS)
• International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE)
• Playwrights Guild of Canada (PGC)
• Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT)

This hour will be shared between theatre leaders and post-secondary students. For the first 30 minutes, our attending industry professionals will give a bird's eye view of the industry, and areas for opportunities across the country. This portion will include some Q and A opportunity as well. 

For the final 30 minutes of the day, we will be spending time in designated Zoom Rooms, getting to know our current and future peers and building connections! The rooms will be organized by general areas of practice:

• Directors, Stage Managers, Choreographers, Playwrights
• Performers
• Technicians
• Designers
• Arts administrators

This event is open to any students in their final year of post-secondary education. Please register for this gathering by Wednesday March 18 to receive the Zoom link.
