  • FEE: FREE for Members / FREE for Non-Members
  • VENUE: PACT Zoom
  • OPEN TO: IBPOC arts administrators and managers, along with other self-identified equity-seeking artsworkers

Open Door is back! After taking the summer off we are excited to be diving back into our peer-based learning and sharing. Our first session back will start with a quick reacquaintance of who we are, and what our community guidelines are, before starting with our discussions. At this session, we will be covering the following two topics:

  1. Self Care: How to balance work, a demanding arts career while taking care of our personal needs.
  2. Community Connections: How can we build better cross-county connections and foster community?

These are sure to be fulfilling conversations, and we look forward to connecting with IBPOC administrators at every step in their careers.

About Open Door:

Open Door is an initiative that offers the growing community of IBPOC arts administrators and managers a virtual space for building connections, awareness, and learning exchange through informal monthly gatherings.

Created by a collective of arts leaders from across Canada, Open Door is an opportunity for aspiring, emerging, and established IBPOC administrators to come together to share ideas, concerns, challenges, support, and solidarity. Participation is free and open to all interested and aspiring IBPOC administrators.

These virtual meetings will provide a safe and encouraging space for skill development exchange, networking, and expanding social capital. In alignment with our Open Door Community Agreement and value of inclusion, while Open Door centers IBPOC administrators, other self-identifying equity-seeking administrators are also welcome to attend.

Open Door was created by a working group partnership of experienced IBPOC arts leaders and organizations from across Canada, with the support of Belfry Theatre, Native Earth Performing Arts, Obsidian Theatre Company, Urban Ink, Green Thumb Theatre, Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT), Pacific Theatre, Persephone Theatre, The Theatre Centre, and Nightwood Theatre. Open Door is a pilot initiative that launched February 2022, and will inform the framework for a collaborative learning exchange initiative, Rising Tides
