MT Space was created to centralize marginalized and racialized artists and stories, to fill what seems to be a great void in a community of many different peoples. 

For the past 20 years, MT Space has been fulfilling its mandate by creating, producing, touring, and presenting artistic work that reflects Canada’s cultural diversity. Since 2004, MT Space has become a conduit for internationally trained immigrants and newcomer professionals across all disciplines. MT Space has grown from being a company that produces one show every year to an organization that brings culturally and socially relevant work from across the country and around the world to our community of Kitchener-Waterloo. We have challenged the preconceptions of theatre to create, produce, and present work that is accessible and affordable to low-income families while creating a space for Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, and marginalized voices to be heard.

Start Date – End Date: July 6 – Aug 29, 2026

The Public Relations Manager will work to develop MT Space’s audience and community via in-person outreach to relevant community stakeholders. The Public Relations Manager will work with the Artistic Director and Marketing and Outreach Manager to develop outreach strategies to promote the company’s activities and the upcoming 2026-27 Season. Responsibilities will include: 

• On the ground outreach at local community centres, associations, gatherings,  and events 

• Promoting the company’s regular community-gathering TELL! event 

• Develop and implement strategies to build and grow local audiences   

• Working closely with the Marketing and Outreach Manager to implement public communications strategies  

• Attending local networking events to promote the company and its activities, such as Chamber of Commerce events  

• Reaching out and organizing visits to high school and university classes to directly promote MT Space events, including funding and professional development opportunities   

• Collaborate with Marketing and Outreach Manager to organize and execute all public promotions at summer festivals 

• Support in recruiting the students and the public for various volunteering opportunities 

• Connecting with local educators and collaborating on opportunities for student engagement 

• Other tasks as assigned
