Company Overview
Who We Are
Pacific Theatre is a mid-sized, Vancouver-based theatre company that aspires to delight, provoke, and stimulate dialogue by producing theatre that rigorously explores the spiritual aspects of human experience. Over the past 40+ years, Pacific Theatre has produced over 200 professional mainstage productions, ranging from established works to original world premieres.
We love stories. We love artists. And we love art that is live, in-person, and feeds the soul. We’re into creating excellent theatre that helps us connect, laugh, stretch, ask hard questions, and maybe even transforms us. Theatre that matters. We don’t mind if excellent theatre looks simple or even a bit scrappy - so long as it feels true. Our programming grows out of and reaches toward the most fundamental human questions: What is our place? What is our purpose? How should we live? And while the company was planted in the soil of the Christian faith, the universality of these questions and generosity of Pacific Theatre itself means that faith is not a prerequisite to access, engage with, and enjoy its creations.
Last June, we made the difficult decision to leave our long-time home at the historic Chalmers building, reimagine the way we operate, and enter an exciting period of transition and opportunity. We’ve settled into a new pared-down office on Granville Island, and are producing out of the Revue stage. We have a smaller (but still ambitious) ‘26/27 season which boasts a National Tour, a World Premiere, and our beloved Christmas Presence. New Stage, Same Soul. So now we’re ready to bring on some key staff to grow and build with us into this new iteration of Pacific Theatre.
