Based in Stratford, Ontario, the Stratford Festival is one of the world’s foremost repertory theatre companies. It operates year round, presenting a season of about a dozen plays each year between the months of April and November, a rich stream of digital content and hundreds of Forum events, designed to deepen understanding of the plays. For every person a theatregoer sees on our stages, we have seven people working behind the scenes, some of the world’s most dedicated and experienced arts workers. Job Description

Boots & Shoes Assistant

This position reports to the Costume Director or designate and is part of the Boots & Shoes Crafts Area within the Production Wardrobe Department team.  Experience working with boots and shoes in a theatre or film environment is an asset but training will be provided.

Responsibilities:
•    Assist with the preparation of all types of footwear for the stage
•    Paint stripping of boots and shoes 
•    Full coverage and detail painting of boots and shoes
•    Cutting and applying specified rubber to the soles of the boots and shoes
•    Proper use of chemicals
•    Some projects will require the use of repetitive handwork 
•    Assist with moving and sorting of boots and shoes bins and racks

Qualifications:
•    Must be able to work independently in a fast paced environment
•    Must adhere to all Health & Safety protocols
•    Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills 
•    Proven ability to apply colour theory knowledge 
•    Self-motivated with strong ability to multi-task 
•    Education, training or experience working with boots and shoes is an asset 

This contract position is located in Stratford, Ontario and will begin Monday, March 6, 2023.
