Advocacy

PACT is the leading advocate for theatre in Canada and provides a united voice for Canadian theatre companies.

We believe that theatre makes an essential contribution to Canadian life and that the experience of theatre should be readily accessible to Canadians. PACT works to influence government policy to advance these beliefs.

Activities

The Advocacy Committee directs PACT’s ongoing advocacy program to educate and inform stakeholder groups as well as the general public. The Advocacy Committee works closely with PACT’s Cultural Diversity, Diversity, and Membership committees to promote and represent all aspects of diversity within theatre so that all professional theatre artists and all forms of professional theatre can thrive.

PACT is a founding member of the Canadian Arts Coalition and the Performing Arts Alliance. PACT is a member of Imagine Canada.

Advocacy Alerts

PACT periodically sends Advocacy Alerts to its members, keeping them informed on key issues and calls to action.

Arts Day on the Hill

Arts Day on the Hill is an annual event that gathers together members of the Canadian arts community to meet with Members of Parliament to discuss the value of the arts in Canada and how investment in the arts plays into the economic, cultural and social health of Canada. PACT has participated in Arts Day on the Hill each year since its inception. For more information on Arts Day on the Hill, visit the Canadian Arts Coalition website.
